Lots of people do not realize how important it is to make sure that you are drinking an adequate amount of water.  Water is super important to help your body do what it is suppose too.  It helps keep everything functioning as it should.  It is also one of the most important keys to weight loss.  Drinking a glass or two before each meal helps your body feel fuller and you can lose more weight by doing this. It is important to make this part of your daily routine! Drinking the correct amount of water can also help your metabolism running strong and help curb your appetite by helping you feel full.  Instead of thinking you are hungry you might just be thirsty!  Here is how I calculate the correct amount of water that you should be drinking!




1.) Know your weight - The first step to knowing the correct amount of water is knowing your weight.  It is important because you don't to over hydrate either!  The amount of weight varies per person based on weight.  

2.) Multiply by 0.67 (67%) - Next you want to multiply your weight by 0.67 or 67% to determine how much you should be drinking daily.  For Example, if you weighed 150 pounds you would multiply by 0.67 and learn you should be drinking about 100 ounces of water a day.  

3.) Activity Level - Finally you will want to adjust your intake of water based on how active you are throughout the day.  It is important that if you are exercising for you add 12 ounces per 30 minutes of exercise.  You are expelling water and salt while you are sweating so it is important to replace these nutrients!

Tips on how to get to your water goal!

So now you know how much to drink and the tricky part is making sure you get it in each day!  Here are some valuable tips to help you be the most successful that you can!


  • Add something fun to your water -  I love to experiment with adding different things to my water.  I love any types of fruit!  Try fruits that you enjoy eating.  I love fresh lemons and limes for a citrus taste.  I love strawberries for a berry flavor, too!  Try even experimenting with cucumber or other fruits that you love! Herbs are awesome to add too!

  • Morning and Night Routine - Drink 2 glasses of water when you first wake up in the morning to help get your metabolism up and running properly for the day.  Also, 2 glasses before bed help you feel fuller and rest properly through the night. 

  • Drink 2 Cups Before Each Meal - Always drink 2 cups before every meal to help you feel fuller when you are eating.  It is important for your body to get this before your meal and not during to help with digestion.  You will lose weight faster if you are doing this also.  

  • Add Some Bubbles - Try sparkling water!  I love the sparking water that is even flavored that you can buy at the local grocery stores.  Right now they have a few flavors at Aldi for an inexpensive price!  Totally worth it! Consider making your own also!  
However you do it, just make sure you get it in!
